World Water Week

I was reading the blog Campus Bread this week where author the 1.2 billion folks that don't have access to fresh drinking water. It got me to thinking about our water here in eastern Colorado, and the depletion of the aquifer. Many farmers already know what may take some of us a long time to figure out...that this precious resource - water - is slowly being depleted. Seems like now would be a great time to talk about it since we just finished celebrating World Water Week. Erin suggested this, and I think it is a great idea...Do you have a story to share about water? Perhaps you have a reflection on a time when you didn't have access to water? Share your stories on my comment section and lets all remember the refreshment and life sustaining qualities of water.

Time to get ready!

Don't miss the opportunity to "rededicate ourselves to ending hunger in God's world!" Bread for the World suggests we take a chance to pray for the hungry and "renew our commitment" to share what we have with others. This is a terrific opportunity to add vital components to our worship between World Food Day (October 16) and Thanksgiving (November 23).

If you need ideas, Bread suggests six ways to celebrate this time...check 'em out! Many of our congregations begin our fall food drives around this same time- what a great way to make it
more meaningful for our members! You can also contact Tanory Ateek, Interim Bread for the World Organizer for more informaion.

Feel free to contact me for more information too!

Alive in Iraq

Have you been looking to get a better idea of the people of Iraq? Alive in Iraq is a website that contains blogs and videos with stories of Iraq people and their daily struggles. It is difficult to get the stories to us, but the pieces are insightful. Click on their blogs or videos to read or view some interesting posts!

Isaiah calls us to: ...offer your food to the hungry and satisfy the needs of the afflicted..

Because of this plea, we are all urged to help the hungry and those experiencing poverty. This blog will provide you with ideas to think about, challenges to wrestle with and an opportunity for networking with others to help alleviate hunger in your communities.

Good luck and great energy as you work with these endeavors!
